A week after the primary, Alhaji AbdulHameed Femi Omotayo collected his Certificate of Return from the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja. It is the document that puts his name on the ballot paper for the Ogun East Senatorial District on 16 January 2027.

The certificate is a formality. It matters here for one reason. It marks the end of the party process and the beginning of the part that belongs to the district.

"The party has done its part," Omo Owo said afterwards. "From here the work is in Ogun East, not in Abuja. Nine local governments, every ward, and a conversation with people who have been promised things before."

The campaign moved to the ground the same week, beginning the round of community visits that produced the five commitments now published in the manifesto.
